Today Austin had his tonsils and adenoids removed. He had been having problems with them since the fall and they refused to return to normal size since his bad case of strep throat. We arrived at the surgical center at 8:00am. He was taken back around 9:15 and was finished by 10:00. I was a little sad when the nurse just took him from us and we weren't to see him again until after the surgery was over. I was nervous that Austin wasn't going to cooperate without us being there with him, but low and behold, he was perfect! It was such a sweet moment watching the nurse pick him up (per his request) and he rested his little head on her shoulder as she carried him back to the operating room.
It was a very quick surgery (all done by the time my Starbucks was finished!) Dr. Walker told us that he did great and was the perfect little patient. The nurse then told us that he was the best "wake-up" patient of the day. My eyes did swell up with tears as we went back and saw him lying in the bed recovering from the anesthesia. Its SO hard to see your little baby have anything invasive done to them.....even when you know its for the best! He did however look pretty angelic lying there in his little tiger gown :) He was so excited to receive his HUGE Spiderman balloon from the nurse and by 11:15 we were walking out the door and on our way to pick up his prescriptions. I learned today what a tough little guy we have been blessed with and I hope this surgery makes a HUGE impact on his health and well being!
his Mommy used to sleep like this when she was a little girl
